Festivities to mark the Santa Rita
The biggest celebration of Cascia, which is based largely on tourism.
Cascia (and Roccaporena) represent the main house and the birthplace of Santa Rita, together with Saint Benedict of Nursia, is the religious culture of the Nera Valley. While St. Benedict is known for the motto "Ora et Labora" located at the base of the Benedictine community, St. Rita is known as the "Saint of the Impossible."

At his death on 22 May 1447 , his body was placed in a chest of poplar miraculorum called codex, made by Cecco barbarians, only in 1462 made the case is solemn.
The veneration of Rita of Cascia by the faithful began immediately after his death and was characterized by the number and quality of miraculous events related to his intercession, so that it became "the holy of the impossible." His beatification is 1627 , 180 years after his death, during the pontificate of Urban VIII Barberini, formerly Bishop of Spoleto . Leo XIII , in 1900 , canonized as a saint. I believe his devotees call it the "holy of the impossible", because from the day of his death would be "down" side to the needy, creating miracles many miracles for them, called "impossible". This unique feature has inspired the writer Dino Buzzati in " The miracles of Val Morel , "though perhaps in a way disrespectful of the saint. The cult of Saint Rita was without doubt one of the most popular in the world, gathering the faithful in every corner of the earth, until with the new Roman Martyrology his feast has become "Optional Memory."
